INCHEON, South Korea – At the eighth green, South African Louis Oosthuizen spied the Jumbotron scoreboard to the right of the green that told a disspiriting story: It was early but the International side trailed in four of the five four-ball matches on the course and if current results held form the Americans would hold a commanding 8.5-1.5 lead at the end of day. Oosthuizen, 1 down in his own match, could’ve been deflated, but he was not. Instead, he studied the line of his 72-foot birdie putt with renewed vigor and rapped it down the hill. The cross-country putt began somewhere in the demilitarized zone, charged onward straight to the hole and finished in the bottom of the cup.
