BLUFFTON, S.C. –– It’s not every day that you get 200 people following a Round-of-16 match at the U.S. Junior Amateur. But it’s not often you get a local boy advancing this far in match play, either.
Andrew Orischak, 16, who lives just over the bridge in Hilton Head Island, will keep the local crowds at Colleton River Plantation for at least a few more hours Friday after defeating Spencer Ralston, 1 up, to advance to the quarterfinals, where he will face Ryan Grider of Lewisville, Texas.
“A lot of that crowd is all my friends and family, from the community I live in and from around the island,” Orischak said.
