Smylie Kaufman earned his first professional victory at the Web.com Tour's United Leasing Championship, beating the field by five shots.
Kaufman, a rookie on the Web.com Tour, opened up a large lead on Saturday after tying the course record at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Ind., with an 8-under 64.
“It’s not every time you start out birdie-birdie-birdie and right from the get-go I knew I had something going,” said Kaufman in a release of his third round.
He held on Sunday with a 1-over 73 for the victory. Kaufman opened the season by missing the cut in his first three events, but has since gone T-4-T-4-1.
