SMU senior Bryson DeChambeau is expected to determine his immediate playing future later this week.
The 22-year-old’s senior season was turned upside down last week when the NCAA sanctioned the SMU men’s golf program for multiple recruiting and ethical violations under former coach Josh Gregory. Included in those penalties was a postseason ban for this season and scholarship reductions for the next three years. SMU is still deciding whether to appeal the sanctions.
DeChambeau, who two months ago became only the fifth player to win the NCAA Championship and U.S. Amateur in the same season, is meeting with his advisers Saturday in Dallas.
