SMU to appeal several NCAA sanctions against men's golf

SMU men's college golfer Bryson DeChambeau is expected to leave the SMU Mustangs after the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate to prepare himself for the 2016 Masters and a potential pro career on the PGA Tour.

The NCAA penalties given to SMU on Tuesday have started to affect the Mustangs in recruiting as 2016 recruit Joshua Sedeno has de-committed and 2017 recruit Ryan Grider is already looking at other options.

The SMU men's golf team received an NCAA postseason ban after its was found to have committed multiple violations under former head coach Josh Gregory.

SMU announced it will appeal several sanctions for men's golf, men's basketball, but not including former head coach Josh Gregory;s four-year ban from coaching.
