CROMWELL, Conn. — Diminutive that he might be, Cameron Smith sure stands tall when the pressure’s on. That was proven Friday at TPC River Highlands when he birdied the par-4 18th to make the cut on the number at the Travelers Championship.
Details of that play will follow, but still worth talking about is what Smith pulled off in last Sunday’s final round of the U.S. Open. So pleasing, in fact, that the Aussie is still smiling.
On the par-5 18th at Chambers Bay, Smith slammed a 3-wood from 289 yards and while he lost sight of the ball, the roars told him it was good.
