As Matt Jones and Jordan Spieth failed to break par, Adam Scott charged from nine shots back to nearly win his second Australian Open.
Scott asserted himself in the closing mix with a 6-under 65 that featured seven birdies against a lone bogey.
The No. 12 player in the world has struggled on the greens this year, switching putters ahead of January's anchoring ban, but poured in plenty Sunday, including a 15-footer for par at No. 17 that kept him tied for the lead.
''I left myself with a little bit of work to do there on 17, but anytime you want to put yourself in a position to win, you've got to make some putts,'' Scott told the Associated Press.
