Quite the recent odyssey, this stretch that has taken Scott Piercy from Oakmont’s torture chamber to Firestone’s alleyways to the mystique of British Open links to a stop north of the American border where victorious memories can be rekindled.
That the road will then meander south to Springfield, N.J., where Piercy’s name will be floated as one of the contenders in the 98th edition of the PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club, is affirmation that he has arrived.
So, what took him so long?
