LOS ANGELES – Some 3-under 68s are more interesting then others.
Take, for example, Charl Schwartzel’s card on Friday at the Northern Trust Open. The South African had a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. The mishmash included seven birdies, an eagle, a bogey, a double bogey and a triple bogey.
Schwartzel started his day with a double bogey-6 at the par-4 10th hole after his approach plugged in a bunker. “I felt very sleepy this morning, and making a double bogey woke me up very quickly,” he said.
He rebounded with three birdies to turn at 1 under and eagled the par-5 first hole to move to 6 under for the week.
