BRADENTON, Fla. – When SMU junior Bryson DeChambeau stuck his approach to 3 feet at his 71st hole of the NCAA Division I Men’s Championship, he said chills ran down his spine.

“I consider it a major in the amateur ranks,” he said, “and I just had this feeling that I was on the verge of winning something I had worked so hard for.”

DeChambeau made birdie June 3 at The Concession Golf Club to win individual honors by one stroke, but it may have been another shot that drew the most attention.
