RYE, N.Y. – The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will cross the country in 2016, moving to Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. It marks the first time an LPGA major will be played in the state of Washington since the 1946 U.S. Women’s Open.
The event, a collaboration between the PGA of America, LPGA and KPMG, will be held June 9-12 near Seattle. Sahalee also hosted the 1998 PGA Championship and 2010 U.S. Senior Open. The LPGA last played in Seattle in 1999.
“One of the key pieces of our collaboration with KPMG and the PGA of America was the commitment to bringing this championship to world-class venues,” said LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan, “and Sahalee Country Club will provide a great major championship test for our players.
