Vaughn Taylor is headed home to the Masters with his first PGA Tour victory in more than a decade, and he cannot believe it.
Taylor, who has not had a full PGA Tour card for the past three years, ran off four straight birdies on the back nine Sunday to close with a seven-under-par 65 to win the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in Pebble Beach, Calif., after Mickelson missed a 5-foot putt on the final hole.
“It’s been a long time,” Taylor said. “I didn’t think it was going to happen.”
A week of spectacular weather on Monterey Peninsula ended with a stunning conclusion for both players.
