A player named Ko is atop the leaderboard after three rounds of the Women’s British Open — just not the one that many were expecting.
Jin Young Ko, a 20-year-old South Korean playing in her first major championship, shot a three-under-par 69 on Saturday and shared the lead with Teresa Lu of Taiwan heading into the final round in Turnberry, Scotland. They each were at eight-under 208 for the tournament.
Ko’s story is more remarkable considering that she met her temporary caddie for the week, the locally born digital advertiser Jeff Brighton, for the first time on Tuesday.
