ATLANTA – Turns out $10 million doesn’t impress the way it used to.
Well, to be clear it doesn’t impress the likes of Rory McIlroy who was asked on Wednesday at the Tour Championship what it would mean to win the FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus this week.
“Luckily, that amount of money doesn’t sort of mean much to me anymore,” he said. “I don’t know when it stopped. I could say January 2013 for obvious reasons, but probably before that.”
In 2013, McIlroy signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Nike Golf that is reportedly worth $200 million and he’s earned more than $28 million in his PGA Tour career.
