Rory McIlroy didn’t hold back on any subject Tuesday at Royal Troon Golf Club. But still, he appeared especially blunt on the subject of drug testing in golf.
The Northern Irishman, currently ranked No. 4 in the world, gave his frank assessment of golf’s drug-testing program as the sport approaches its return to the Olympics for the first time in 112 years. And he was not kind.
He didn’t just have critical comments, McIlroy basically called the system ineffective, stating that if he wanted to cheat, he wouldn’t be caught.
“I could use HGH and get away with it,” McIlroy said.
