Stepping up to the short par-4 14th, Rory McIlroy had a number in mind: 59.
It must have been motivation, as the World No. 1 proceeded to stripe a 3-wood 322 yards, leaving himself 50 feet for eagle. He wouldn't hit the putt and he wouldn't reach the gold standard in golf, but what McIlroy settled for wasn't too bad, either. The two-putt birdie at 14 was part of a five-hole birdie streak and one of 11 total in McIlroy's record-setting round of 11-under 61 during Round 3 of the Wells Fargo Championship.
McIlroy broke his own course record at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.
