Rory McIlroy missed the cut at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the European Tour event he is hosting in his home country of Northern Ireland.
The World No. 1 shot a second-round even-par 71, failing to make up enough ground after an opening 9-over 80 and make it inside the cut line at 5 over at Royal County Down in Newcastle, Northern Ireland.
"It's disappointing," said McIlroy of his play after Round 1. "You know, I want to go out there and play well, not just for myself as I said yesterday, but for a lot of other people.
