Romero punches tee sign at Barracuda Championship, injures hand

Andres Romero withdrew from the Barracuda Championship after punching a sign and injuring his hand during third-round play in Reno, Nev.

Romero punched the tee sign at the 15th tee box and hurt himself, according to the Golf Channel telecast. Tournament officials were checking with Romero and determining his status at the 15th tee while Patrick Rodgers' group played through. Romero, 34, had just come off consecutive bogeys.

At the 15th tee, Romero putted the ball on the tee box and accepted the lowest score he could take in the Modified Stableford format, a double bogey, in an apparent attempt to finish the round.
