Alexandre Rocha described the beleaguered Olympic Golf Course as “perfect” after playing the first competitive round there Tuesday.
Rocha, who is currently third in the Brazilian team standings, was one of the nine golfers invited to play an 18-hole exhibition on the Gil Hanse design. He shot a 3-under 68 to tie for medalist honors with Rodrigo Lee.
Golf returns to the Olympics in August after a 112-year absence.
“The golf course is ready,” Rocha said Thursday on “Morning Drive”. “The golf course is pristine. It was perfect.”
Rocha hit every club in his bag, lob wedge through hybrid, for approach shots into the greens – a “true testament,” he said, to the quality of the course.
