The Robby Shelton legend grew by another chapter on Thursday as the Alabama junior stormed to medalist honors at the 113th Western Amateur at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
Shelton lurked near the top of the leaderboard over the first 54 holes of the event, posting scores of 71, 68 and 71 to put himself T-7 and three back going into the final round. But he never really threatened to win until he opened his final sequence with four consecutive birdies.
An eagle-birdie stretch on Nos. 11 and 12 pushed him to 13 under and three clear of the field, essentially wrapping up medalist honors.
