Donald Trump's recent comments about banning Muslims immigrants from entering the United States had already made potential dents in his golfing interests, but the latest bad news could be the worst yet for the presidential hopeful.
According to the Independent, the R&A has "privately decided" to remove Turnberry (recently renamed Trump Turnberry) from the Open Championship rota because of Trump's increasingly toxic reputation.
Trump had purchased Turnberry Resort in April 2014, and promised a $220 million upgrade. New R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers had also been expected to endorse Turnberry for the site of the 2020 Open.
