Report: Augusta National closing by end of week because of coronavirus

Augusta National Golf Club is reportedly closing by the end of the week.

In a letter obtained by Golf Digest, chairman Fred Ridley announced the closure to the club's membership on Monday, just three days after the Masters Tournament and its preceding events were postponed until further notice because of the coronavirus concerns.

"We are now in the midst of a national emergency," Ridley said. "The Coronavirus is increasingly impacting lives everywhere, and we have rigorously evaluated how this will affect the Club and its operations. Our focus moving forward must be the health and safety of our exceptional staff, which is the heartbeat of Augusta National.
