ST ANDREWS, Scotland - R&A Chief Executive Martin Slumbers might be able to give Donald Trump a few pointers on diplomacy should Trump become the 45th president of the United States. Slumbers gave a statesmanlike performance in deflecting questions on Trump and when the R&A would take the British Open to his Turnberry course.
Slumbers, who only took over his post as R&A chief executive last August, has been under pressure to speak out against the property tycoon since Trump made what many see as controversial comments about Mexicans and Muslims while campaigning to become the Republican nominee for the White House.
