DORAL, Fla. — Having a firm grasp of history comes in hand, especially if your timing is as impeccable as David Clark’s.
Understandably stunned by a pair of double-bogeys in Sunday’s final round of the WGC Cadillac Championship — first at the par-4 third, then at the par-4 fifth — there wasn’t much of a festive atmosphere with Adam Scott and his caddie, Clark.
“I wasn’t shattered, but (standing on the sixth tee) I was pretty disappointed,” Scott said.
The caddie “felt awful” about the way those holes were played — both 9-irons, one rinsed right, the other air-mailing the green into water — and a look at the leaderboard showed that Scott was 6 under, a whopping six behind Rory McIlroy.
