Presidents Cup to Reduce Number of Matches

EDISON, N.J. — The PGA Tour has agreed to reduce the number of matches in the Presidents Cup.

International team captain Nick Price has been lobbying for the change to help keep the matches close and interesting. The Americans have won six of the last seven times by at least three points. The other was a draw in South Africa.

For the Presidents Cup in South Korea on Oct. 8-11, there will 18 matches of foursomes and fourballs and 12 singles matches for 30 total points available. Previously, there were 22 team matches and a total of 34 points.
