RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – Being the odd man out in the WGC-Dell Match Play could have been a dish of humble pie for Ian Poulter. But instead of staying home and feeling sorry for himself, he got on a plane on Wednesday to play the Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach. Heading to the weekend, Poulter finds himself right in the mix of things.
The dish Poulter served up in his second round early Friday even produced a name from the fanciful Englishman: A par sandwich. He had three birdies to open his round and three to end it, and in between, held onto his patience as he made 12 consecutive pars.
