RIO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO – Mark Burmester, who is working this week as caddie for his son, Dean, at the Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach, glanced around the crowded practice green Tuesday afternoon and told his son he didn’t recognize any players. The observation brought a smile to his Dean’s face.
“I’m like, ‘Dad, I know every single person that is playing here,” Dean said. “I’ve been watching them since I was 14 years old.’ So it’s amazing just to be here, no matter what happens.”
The Puerto Rico Open is in its ninth year, and has lived its entire existence as an opposite-field event on the PGA Tour.
