Marco Penge, of Sussex, England, tied the scoring record at the Peter McEvoy Trophy, winning by eight shots and earning Junior Boys Player of the Week honors.
Penge, 16, opened with a 65 and closed with a 66 at Copt Heath Golf Club in Solihull, England, finishing at 272 in the 72-hole event, which ties the low mark set in 2004 and repeated in 2011.
“It’s my biggest win yet, and it’s good to get it so early in the season after so much hard work,” said Penge.
Penge, who turned down offers to play collegiate golf in the United States, will play at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley this week.
