Chakansim “Fai” Khamborn captured the 115th Women’s Western Amateur on the 36th hole. Khamborn, 15, defeated Lydia Gumm, a senior at Florida State, 1 up, over the par-72, 6,073-yard Nashville Golf and Athletic Club in Brentwood, Tenn.
The Western Amateur consists of a marathon of nine rounds for the two finalists. Khamborn, who had her aunt on the bag, also won the WWGA's 87th Junior Championship in 2012 at age 12.
Khamborn had a hole in one in the second round of stroke play that helped her to a second consecutive even-par 72. Khamborn finished sixth in stroke play.
