The roots of nearly every heel-toe-weighted blade putter can be traced to a garage in Scottsdale, Ariz. It was there, in 1966, that Ping Golf founder Karsten Solheim created the first Anser putter.
Monday, on the eve of the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show, Ping released two new blade putters to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Anser, the TR 1966 Anser and Anser 2.
Designers used 3D scans of the originals to ensure the subtle, hand-shaped details Solheim created in the original Anser came through in the new heads.
“Karsten’s groundbreaking Anser design was genius because of how well it performed and how different it was,” said his son, John Solheim, Ping’s chairman and CEO.
