The PGA Tour announced Monday that they were immediately expanding their mobile device policy to allow fans to take photographs with their cell phones outside of designated cell phone areas during tournament play.
While the policy is a small step forward, it still restricts photography to "non-competition areas," prohibiting photos from places like teeing grounds, tee shot landing areas and greens, and when specifically requested by tournament staff, security, players or player representatives.
All other parts of the mobile device policy remained the same, such as leaving devices on silent at all times, not allowing video/audio recording and talking on the phone only in designated cell phone zones.
