NAPLES, Fla. — Sometimes an innocent question delivers a writer’s next story idea on a silver platter. All your faithful correspondent asked of Kenny Perry was whether Bernhard Langer, who would cruise to his 26th title Feb. 14 at the Chubb Classic since joining the round bellies, was underappreciated. “He’s a Hall of Famer,” Perry said. “He’s supposed to be great.”
It was the next part of his answer that steered the conversation in a totally unexpected direction.
“I don’t think anything on the Champions Tour means anything to anybody, to tell you the truth,” Perry said.
