PGA Tour advises players not to participate in fantasy sports

As the controversy rages over the future of daily fantasy sports games, PGA Tour members have received a clear message: Stay away.

According to a note in "The Green Sheet," a newsletter that is distributed to members, players have been advised that because fantasy sports games are considered illegal in several states, they are off limits. To be involved would constitute "conduct unbecoming a professional."

The message extends to sponsorships and endorsements, too. Players have been advised to confer with members of the Policy Board before getting involved.

DraftKings and FanDuel, two companies whose popularity among online players has soared in recent years, have been sued in New York, the source of approximately 10 percent of the sports’ customers.
