PGA notes: English's 68; Finau steady again; more

MOSEL, Wis. — Harris English shot 4-under 68 in Thursday’s first round of the 97th PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. It was his lowest score in a major championship.

Playing in just his second PGA and his ninth major, English had scored 69 three times.

The tall and quiet one from the University of Georgia has also struggled to fine good form in these majors, as his best finish is a T-15.

Thing is, however, it behooves you to remember that English is just 26.

“The more tournaments I play in, the more major championships I play in, I feel like I gain more and more experience,” English said.
