LEADING: Jimmy Walker matched his best score in a major with a 5-under 65.
LOOMING: British Open champion Henrik Stenson birdied three of his last seven holes for a 67. He can become the first player since Ben Hogan in 1953 to win two straight majors at age 40.
FALLING: U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson opened with a 77, his worst score to par in the opening round of a major since Turnberry in the 2009 British Open.
