The PGA Grand Slam of Golf will not be held this year, it was announced Thursday.
The PGA of America announced in July that it was moving the 36-hole showcase for major champions away from Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles after owner Donald Trump’s controversial comments about Mexican immigrants. The PGA said at the time that it was exploring other options for the event, originally scheduled for Oct. 20-21.
On Thursday, the organization said in a statement: “Due to the timing and logistics needed to stage the PGA Grand Slam of Golf to the highest standards, we are disappointed that we will not be able to conduct the event this year.
