Day two of the European Tour’s Commercial Bank Qatar Masters concluded with Paul Lawrie sitting atop the leaderboard at 11 under after he turned in a 6-under 66 in the second round.
If Lawrie holds his lead until the end, he will become the first player in history to pick up the Mother of Pearl Trophy three times (1999 and 2012).
The Scotland native holds a one-stroke lead over Nicolas Colsaerts, but Lawrie is sitting prettier than he was after the second round in Abu Dhabi last weekend.
Lawrie failed to make the cut in the star-studded field last week but opened this event with a 5-under 67.
