DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Olympic gold medalist Inbee Park has withdrawn from the LPGA Tour's final major of the year because her thumb needs more rehabilitation.
She says her left thumb was put in a cast last week and her recovery time will force her to miss the Evian Championship in France on Sept. 15-18.
The South Korean missed two months on the LPGA because of the injury. She put everything into the Olympics, and won the gold medal with a five-shot victory over top-ranked Lydia Ko.
Park has won at Evian, but not when it was a major.
