Olympic gold medalist Inbee Park announced Wednesday that she has withdrawn from next month’s Evian Championship, the year’s final major championship, because of continuing struggles with her left thumb injury.
Park said it “was an incredibly hard decision to make” but the inflammation in the ligament and cartilage in her thumb remains a problem.
“The Evian Championship means so much to me, and I really wanted to see the beautiful Evian Resort Golf Club once again and compete to win,” Park said. “Unfortunately, my left thumb injury needs more rehabilitation than I wished for.
