AUGUSTA, Ga. – Arnold Palmer announced last month that he would be unable to hit the ceremonial opening tee shot on Thursday at the Masters as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury.
Instead, it will be Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player teeing off on the first tee early Thursday to begin the year’s first major.
Player, who joined Nicklaus and Palmer on the first tee in 2012, said Thursday’s ceremony will be different without Palmer’s participation but the South African had something special planned.
