Padraig Harrington fires afternoon 70, sits a shot back at Scottish Open

INVERNESS, Scotland – Padraig Harrington sounded like a glutton for punishment after walking off Castle Stuart Golf Links with a 2-under 70 in the first round of the Scottish Open.

Playing in the afternoon, when the conditions were less than optimal with wind gusts up to 43 mph, the two-time British Open champion was never stressed in putting together the best round and one of only four rounds under par among 78 players who teed it up in the afternoon.

“I wish I played every tournament round of golf in these sort of conditions,” Harrington said. “It was tough.
