In the days leading up to the Pacific Coast Amateur at Eugene (Ore.) Country Club, organizers could hardly contain their excitement over the crop competing in this year’s event.
“This has got to be one of the best fields we’ve ever had,” said Troy Andrew, executive director of the Pacific Coast Golf Association. “I would say it has to be one of the five best in the history of the tournament.”
Indeed, the list of top players is staggering. Bryson DeChambeau, Beau Hossler, Scottie Scheffler, Will Zalatoris, Jonathan Garrick and Maverick McNealy will play this week,. Jordan Niebrugge, who placed sixth and earned the silver medal at the British Open earlier this month.
