Other player's illness prompts tee time change for Barbaree at Sage Valley

Junior Boys

GRANITEVILLE, S.C. – Philip Barbaree was planning on having the last tee time for Thursday's first round of the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley. Yet, there he was on the first tee at 10:30 a.m., an hour and 20 minutes earlier than expected.

The reason for the switch? Kyle Sterbinsky, one of Barbaree's housemates this week, is feeling ill.

"They called me last night and asked if I would switch, and it was fine with me," said Barbaree, a Shereveport, La., native. "They were pumping IVs into him."

So instead of playing alongside Hidetoshi Yoshihara and Joshua Martin, Barbaree will play in the same group as good friend Jacob Solomon and Sweden's Marcus Kinhult, who is ranked sixth in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
