SAN DIEGO –– Louis Oosthuizen, winner of the 2010 Open Championship, used a new driver shaft when he made five birdies in a row in the final round of last month's U.S. Open.
This shaft, which has gone by several code names, now has an official name: Project X Hzrdus (yes, it is pronounced Hazardous).
Oosthuizen lost the U.S. Open by one stroke to Jordan Spieth, but he was not unhappy after he rebounded from an opening 77 with rounds of 66, 66 and 67.
"I am driving the ball better than ever," he said, referring to his new shaft and Ping G30 LS Tec driver head (marked 10.
