Kevin O’Connell experienced a moment he’ll remember forever Tuesday at the U.S. Open. Unfortunately, what immediately followed was an instance he’d rather forget.
O’Connell, the 30-year-old reigning U.S. Mid-Amateur champion, was playing a practice round at Pebble Beach when he aced the iconic par-3 seventh hole. But just moments later, O’Connell fell ill and asked for medical assistance. The news was first reported by Golf Digest.
The USGA confirmed to Golf Channel that O’Connell was treated on location by the medical staff and once his condition improved, he took a cart back to his room. The USGA added that O’Connell did not seek medical transport.
