Numbers: Jordan Spieth could have used a partner for Road Hole

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — If there had been a skins pool at the 144th British Open, Billy Horschel would have won a small fortune.

He was the only player to make a birdie at the par-4 17th, the iconic Road Hole, in Monday’s fourth round, and he was the only player in the field to birdie it twice.

The British Open went into a Monday finish for the first time since 1988, then three men went into a four-hole playoff. Here are the best shots from a day of drama at St. Andrews.
