GAINESVILLE, Fla. –– Florida’s rise up the college-golf ranks this season can be largely attributed to its stellar freshman class.
Sam Horsfield is ranked 12th in the country by Golfweek and has four top 5s this season, including a victory. Jorge Garcia has finished T-7 or better in six starts. Kyler Tate and Blake Dyer have combined for six starts, with Tate posting a T-6 at the Jerry Pate in the fall.
Then there’s Gordon Neale, a member of the 2014 Junior Ryder Cup team, whose first season with the Gators has been marred by injuries.
