Nova Southeastern men's golf wins NCAA Division II Championship

Nova Southeastern captured its second NCAA Division II Men’s Championship in four years.

Nova Southeastern, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., defeated Lynn University, 3-2, in the medal match-play final May 22 over the par-71 Jones Course at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C.

Santiago Gomez, the No. 1-player for Nova Southeastern, captured the clinching match point with a one-shot victory over Lynn’s Jose Andres Miranda, the Fighting Knight’s No. 2 player. Gomez shot 2-over 73 to Miranda’s 3-over 74.

Nova Southeastern won the first two matches (Ethan Marcus defeated Keith Green, 73-75; and Priyanshu Singh defeated Martin Cancino, 78-81) before Lynn’s Mateo Gomez defeated Nova Southeastern’s Oscar Lengden, 69-75.
