Noah Goodwin may be 16 years old, but he is well aware that anything can happen in match play.
Yes, he had rolled with relative ease through the match-play bracket at the U.S. Junior Amateur and into a semifinal matchup against John Pak. But on Friday afternoon at The Honors Course, Goodwin found the going to be much tougher.
Pak took Goodwin to 20 holes before Goodwin closed out the victory with an eagle at the par-5 second hole and earned a berth in Saturday’s championship match in Ooltewah, Tenn.
“Absolutely incredible,” said Goodwin, who topped Fred Lee, 5 and 4, in the quarterfinals Friday morning.
