Nike introduces four new resin-core golf balls

Nike updated four of its resin-core golf balls for 2016 and broke them into two distinct groups.

The new four-piece RZN Platinum and RZN Black balls constitute the Tour family, and the three-piece RZN Red and RZN White form the Speed group.

To increase distance, Nike engineers designed the RZN Platinum and RZN Black (each cost $48 a dozen) with a resin core that is 10 percent larger than the previous version’s core. Most balls’ cores are smooth, but this Nike resin core is covered by a grid pattern that has an X covering it. Nike calls this design Speedlock X and says it increases the surface area of the core by 26 percent, which helps transfer energy more effectively into a shot.
